Ah step 1 has been accomplished

Author's display

I have to say, I have been waiting for this day for quite some time. Some of you know that I have been working ACN part time and now after 26 months of busting my butt in the evenings and weekends, I got promoted to the position of TC and took the stage in Montreal in front of 4,000 people.

I was told that we were given 2 minutes to give a speech so I get up there and as I try to pick up my heart up from my stomach, I proceed to give my speech. I look down at the counter which is being displayed on an LCD in front of the stage and the time says 2 minutes. I start talking, looking down and it;s still on 2 minutes...I figure they are giving me all the time I want so I continue talking. All of a sudden, the time goes from 2 minutes to 55 seconds. So now I have to rush to finish it up. I look into the crowd and everyone appears to be one big blur. I wrap up the speech, get my plaque and head off the stage. It was quite the experience but I am glad that part is over.

Free Bee Car Pick, I Like That...

Author's display

Hi guys,

I have been looking at the S40 and even the S60. Good cars and really cheap for what you get. Ed, I definitely agree with you. I was also looking at them because they are extremely safe to drive and that's a huge bonus. I was also looking at a 2004 Honda Accord and of course my favorite, 2004 BMW 325i. Reason I opted out of the BMW is because it is way too expensive on gas and very expensive to fix....going to have to wait a few years for that one.

Hello all! 4000 people eh, geez, I think I would literally shit myself if I had to do that! Public speaking, yaaa, never been my thing but I know you'll do fine!

So I can see your gonna be totally secretive about what cars your looking at so I'll give you a free bee car pick... Probably one of the best deals I've noticed lately in the used car market is the Volvo S40, Yup, I totally said Volvo! Great cars and they actually sell pretty cheap in the used market. Do a quick search, I bet you'll be surprised how cheap you can get one and there actually a really nice car!

So New Years, looks like we are not able to make it down this year, I'll miss you jerks but hope you all have fun! If things change and we end up being free then we're just gonna show up anyways :P

So ya, I gotta get back into the server farm (hehehe, I love my life again) hope you all have a great Friday!

Ed.

Part 2

Author's display

Hi guys,

Just thought I would post part 2 of the car shopping...ok there is no part two. I have been shopping for a car for a week now and I think I might have found myself a nice car but it's in Toronto of course. So no news yet! To be continued as soon as I find out.

Thanks Ed, getting my butt to TC was quite the work but now that it's done, I get to concentrate on the next step...RVP! I get to do a speech in front of 4,000 people this Saturday at Palais des Congres in Montreal so it will a little nerve racking but it's nice to get to celebrate in my hometown.

As for New Years Nels, I don't think we have any plans but I will talk to the boss and get back to you.

Nice hearing from all of you. Let's keep this going!

D

P.S. I love the Works! Amazing wings there! As I said in my text message this week, congrats Ed and I love Westboro..it's a very nice area in Ottawa.

Was up all…

I will talk to Liz tonight about New Years and get back to you ASAP.

So ya, the jobs great but I got some more news for you all, we’re moving! The one bedroom apartment was okay and still not bad at all so we were in no rush but we have been keeping an eye open for any nice places. We came across a nice 3 bedroom on the top floor of a duplex in Westboro. For those not familiar with the area, it’s a pretty snazzy part of town, kinda quiet but close to some funky shops and stuff. We’re going to be about a 10 min walk from “The Works” and a Starbucks! I can’t wait, we get the place on Dec 1st and we kept our current apartment till Jan 1st so we have plenty of time to paint and stuff before making the move. While on the topic of the new place, what did you say to them Nels, the guy was like “Um okay, you can have the place even though your reference guy was so mean”

So D, what car now then? Oh ya, and congratulations on making TC!

Later all,
Ed.

PS – Just kidding about the reference thing, don’t know what you said but it worked :) Thanks Nels!

PPS – So who’s available to help us move next month… Insert cricket sound here… Just kidding, we got movers booked.

Tis the Season.... Again!

Author's display

Sorry to steal the thunder on here but I haven't had internet at work for the passed few weeks so posting has been tough even though I want to.

Time is running out and I don't want to make this to last minute but I'm doing New Years here in the dungeon and wanted to know who's interested. It will be the usual thing, so no need to elaborate on it, so just chime in if you want to come. Jason has stated that he will come if work permits and Mark has shown interest as well. You know its always a good time so if you have no other plans then come on down!

Let me know so I can start arranging beds and hookers... sorry I meant Extension cords for all the Sleep Apnea Machines.

As soon as I know who's coming then I'll start organizing the evening and festivities.

And now back to our regularly scheduled posting...

Dean wheres Part 2? and Ed... I hate you!

New Car Part 1

Author's display

I couldn't stop laughing at your last post Nels.... Yes I was stupid but I did check the oil and it was fine. The check oil light would have been on...ok maybe it was my fault but at least I could look back and laugh. Needless to say, I always do my oil changes on time and check the oil.

I was looking around at different cars and man was it hard to pick a car that I really want. I finally came across a 2003 Mitsubishi Galant GTZ, fully loaded with side airbags! (Yes it's now a requirement!) So I called the guy in Toronto and asked him a few questions...First of all he had a thick Arab accent (Strike One), I asked him if the car had been in an accident. He said Yes, frontal collison (Strike Two), then he said it runs fine, the owner's son drives it everyday, (Strike Three). So I ended the conversation really quickly. Then I fell upon the same car in Ottawa and it was certified by Mazda dealership so I figured it was perfect. Called up the dealership and apparently the car has transmission problems so it is not being sold. So I came to the conclusion that even though the car has really good reviews, it is not meant to be.

Moving on now and still searching for a car...Got a call from the insurance company, they told me how they came to the price for my car and I laughed. One dealer sold my car, base model, manual for $4000 less than what they are being sold right now. So of course they jumped on it and used that price. Problem is the car is sold and no way there will be another car with that price anytime soon. So now they are willing to negotiate a price.

Wish me luck but this is not going to be pretty!

Lovin the Work Life Again!

Author's display

Hello all!

Don't be mad at me for cutting this short, my new office came with one of those infuriating cut in two keyboards and it's totally driving me crazy!

So ya, after a little controversy I have landed the job I've always wanted! I'm basically a network admin and I get to work with some pretty geeky stuff! I got full access to the server farm (fingerprint scanner protected and all :) ). I'm still learning my way around but having a blast already. It's funny cause I remember when I first started here a bunch of us got a guided tour of this very same server farm and I remember thinking how cool this server guy was and how fun it would be to work in there, 4 years later I made it to the big leagues...lol. I haven't really done much so far other than update some software on some servers but the promise of things to come is totally exciting, I cant wait!

I hope all is well with everyone else!

Later all,
Ed.

Thank heaven for Airbags and Big Boobs!

Hey, good to hear everyone is ok. Make sure to massage your woman daily to relieve her pain but I was watching Dr. OZ and he mentioned a few weeks ago that Sex was good for Whiplash... so look into that.
Now what is this car we speak of, and more importantly this Toronto location? Be careful buying a car here... because we have so many highways with so many lanes and so much traffic, and then we have so many Arabs and Indians, well its really tough to find a car here that hasn't been a CAB, or even worse... actually driven!

So what are you getting??? Giving into your mid life crisis and getting a Honda again?!?! Oh and By the way, my buddy never ripped you off, he just got a really good deal on a car cause someone wasn't bright enough to check his oil every once in a while!!! He had to completely rebuild that engine... but luckily for him he was mechanically inclined so that cost next to nothing to do, so then he fixed up the car some more and sold it for a shit tonne of money! So the moral here is... If you have testicles then you should at least know how to check the oil on a car. And if you have testicles, AND have worked at a full service gas station but still don't know how to check your oil.... well then those testicles should be revoked!

(and with my luck now my engine will explode when I go start my Jeep!!!)

Ed, tell us about your new job. How do you like it? Thanks for the best wishes everyone. Tarra has improved today so it looks like it won't be a long recovery after all.

I do have a car in mind but it is located in Toronto. I don't want to spoil it in case the car is already sold but if I do get it, I will get a great deal on it. Don't expect a head turner because we are not opting for a loan and getting into debt over it. However, at the same time, it will not be a North American car (Sorry Ed, I still get bad memories from the Sunfire. I think its a cool looking car but I will find out tomorrow if it is available. As soon as I know, I will post the pics...

End of Another Era

Author's display

Just thought I would quickly write about what's been going on in our lives since nobody is writing a thing here. Hopefully someone notices.....Anyways, some of you remember in 2000, there was an end of an era when my Momo hot rod decided to burn a gasket on the 401 when Tarra and I were on our way to Toronto for a wedding. I know Nelson doesn't let me live that one down as I was desperate to give it up and forget the bad memories and settled for $1600. So basically I was ripped off by someone Nelson knew but I deserved it. I was young and naive.

Well last Wednesday, was the end of another Era. At 4:10pm I get a call at my office, and it was Tarra. I say my usual "Hi Honey how are you?" She replies "Well, I got into a car accident". My heart stopped.....first thing that comes to mind is if Johnny is okay. I know Tarra is okay because she is calling me but now I wait for the rest... "Johnny is ok, we are both fine but a lady hit me on our side when I was making a left turn to go into the Walmart." So I tell her to call the police make a report while I hop on my white stretch limousine (that's code for the bus) and proceed to the scene of the accident.

Half an hour later, I make it there and a cop is on the scene. I look at the car and I can't believe that this idiot driver sideswiped them while she was driving behind Tarra. It made no sense to me, the cop couldn't figure it out and the woman is claiming amnesia (she doesn't remember). So I talk to Tarra and she explains what happened. Basically this woman wasn't paying attention and she hit Tarra after Tarra made her turn and hit her on an angle. Both passenger and driver doors are crushed and Tarra hits her head on the steering wheel. Insurance company deems the other driver 100% at fault.

We get the car towed to our garage and the next day someone from the insurance company leaves me a message..."Mr. Covone your car has been deemed a total loss" I am in shock because although the drive side is crushed, I didn't think it would be deemed a loss. I get the first offer from the insurance company and they low ball us, big time! I can't even buy a replacement car with the amount they offer me. So I refuse the offer and now they are going back to the independent company for a review. Last resort is arbitration. No way I will let them screw me this time!

To top it all off, Tarra wakes up the next day with a really stiff sore neck. I take her to her family physician and he says she has severe whiplash. So now she has to go to physio 2 to 3 times a week for god knows how long. Johnny hit his head on the cushion part of Tarra's seat so he walked away unharmed. Thank god for that!

Now it's time to go shopping for another car, stay tuned for posted pics of the new car!

Ciao

Big D
