Was up Nels! Yup, we may as well at this point start considering this a place for us to have personal one on one conversations...lol. I like your deep posts about the TV thing, you always talk about the same few shows yet every time I read another one of those posts you manage make it interested and almost make me regret the fact that I pretty much never watched a full episode of ER, ever! ![]()
Me, GTA4 is what I've been spending most of my time doing lately and seriously, the game is nuts! Its f'n amazing how every detail is in there, I keep having moments where I'm like "I wonder if they put that in there? Yup, yup they did!". My biggest problem is that it's so easy to get distracted, I always forget that I have to buckle down and do the missions or else I'll never finish the game! Nels and Jase, I think it's totally time for another late night GTA4 session, I gotta start working towards those multiplayer trophies ya know!
As for JB, I haven’t watched yesterday’s episode yet but I'm totally looking forward to it now. I'm gonna miss this show when it's gone and I totally agree about it being way better to watch weekly.
Well, I'm out, gonna start my long walk home...
Laterz all,
Ed.
Well Ed I'm glad I finally got you on the band wagon.. I just hope its not too late cause now that they are doing some new stuff I don't know if the show will still have that same appeal as before. We'll see this week cause its officially the start of the new stuff, but I'm really gonna miss those opening skits.
So it seems that as always I'm alone on these things and it really sucks for me cause I have no one to talk to about it so today I'm just gonna say whatever I want. I'm not going to spoil anything for you guys just in case you catch up someday but I'm gonna just skim over this topic....
24...
Tonight for the first time in a long time I actually got a wee bit emotional while watching (I'm man enough to admit a drop or two) I think tonight's episode gave us a glimpse of 24's end. I don't think its any surprise to anyone that there is absolutely no way 24 can end on a good note, and by that I mean it will end with Jack Bauer's death. Its just not common sense to finish the show with him riding off into the sunset to live a happy life... its just not a heroic ending, and tonight they subtly reminded us he is indeed a hero. There is a scene where he is changing his shirt and you see his body covered in scars, and as quick as it is, it really reminds me of the shit that's gone on. Yes I know this is a TV show and he is not real, but I'm the same person that Idolizes Superman (go back and reread my posts about the new movie when it came out) so there is a part of me that is still a kid that dreams of heroes saving the world, and in this day and age that's JB.
The show has seriously picked up this season. Maybe its my love affair with it that makes me blind, but even so, I think its really back on track. I know Dino and Tara stopped watching so they could do the DVDs at the end of the season, but honestly I think you guys are missing out. As good as it is to watch them all back to back, its really a different beast when you have that dread 10 minutes before the end of each episode knowing you have to wait another week, and then the anticipation watching the recap at the beginning the following week. Its what makes the show what it is, and after tonight's episode I'm feeling a different type of dread... knowing that this season is ending soon and that next season is probably the last...
And with that I lead onto my next tear jerker for the week... this Thursday is the final episode of ER. I've mentioned it before, but this one really does hold a special place in my heart. The last few episodes have really been amazing. Not just for the story lines, but because the people that do ER have really shown some appreciation to their fans. They brought back characters just to give us that final "good bye" and you don't see that on any other show. When a big shot like George Clooney shows up to do really just a sum of 10 mins it reminds me why I've stayed with the show for 15years. I was actually going to drive down to Montreal to watch the finale cause that was our thing Thursday nights but my mother hasn't caught up on all the episodes so I'll be watching it here.
Its funny, it seems my last few posts have all been about these shows I watch or things I do, and really they are pointless. I don't expect anyone to relate to me, or say anything back, but I still keep doing it... Don't know why...
I'll try to be the funny Nelson you all want in the next one... promise.
Peace, Love and HJ's
Was up all! Good to see were keeping this place updated on a regular basis, makes it so much more interesting for all our readers...
So lets talk about Podcasts for a bit... I find myself watching mainly vidcasts at this point, hardly if ever do I listen to audio podcasts anymore but I do miss TWIT and I will probably start getting into that one again some day soon. As for the VidCast's my favorite one would have to be hands down Diggnation! I would highly reccomend it to anyone (even if your not a techy) just crack a beer and watch, awesome show! Tekzilla and Hak5 are two others that I regular and would highly recommend (Hak5 is really geeky though so...).
I recently watched an episode of The Totally Rad Show (never got into it before) cause they reviewed Resident Evil 5 and I cant wait till I have time to get into that game and wanted to hear all I could about it. To my surprise I really enjoyed it! So ya, after 2 years of Nels saying "awesome show" and me saying "meh, not for me" I think it just may finally be time for me to get the hoodie...lol. I'll definitely give it a watch for a few weeks at the very least (fast forwarding the comic book segments of course)!
So ya, wish I had something more to say but that's about all the time I have, back to work I go!
Have a good day all!
Ed.
So last week I posted about Diggnation, and this week I just wanted to share my other favorite video podcast with you guys, The Totally Rad Show.
The Totally Rad show or TRS as us "in the know" call it is a show done by 3 guys, Dan Trachtenberg (the show brown haired Jewish fellow) Jeff Cannata (the tall guy) and Alex Albrecht (the blond guy from Diggnation)
The premise of the show is simple... they sit around and talk about the stuff I like... Movies, Games, TV Shows and sometimes comics. The thing is that they are just 3 regular guys that are passionate about these things. Sure Dan is a director for Commercials and Jeff and Alex are Actors so sometimes the discussions can get kinda technical but it adds to the conversation. But the real joy I get from the show is that I sometimes sit there watching and imagine or think back to some of the conversations we have had and can sooo see us doing a show like this too. Sometimes we agree, some times we disagree, but no matter which it is, its still fun to witness.
I really think this is one of the best Podcast out there, especially for the "NON GEEK" because you really don't need to know anything, you just have to watch. And if you don't want to hear about something like a video game then you can skip that segment. But if there is anything you should really watch is the intros. Every week they film a new intro based on a scene from a movie or TV show. They never tell you what it is, you just have to figure it out, but they are just amazing. I have more then once made Mark sit down to play Guess the intro and he doesn't seem to mind. He also has been known to actually want to watch an episode or two with me... I gonna make him a geek yet... you'll see!
And with that I bring sad news.... As of their latest episode (104) they will no longer be doing these "tribute" intros. I was shocked to hear of this cause I really looked forward to them every week, probably more then I do 98% of the shows on TV. Also EP 104 was the last episode for their Cameraman and editor Steve. On most shows that wouldn't mean very much, but in this case it means a lot. This guy was just amazing. The little jokes he would throw in while editing a scene were usually hysterical, and up until this weeks episode I probably never paid attention to his camera work, but they showed a little tribute video he made for his house (where they filmed TRS prior to him leaving) and I swear its one of the most beautiful videos I have ever seen. I'm not joking on how this video effected me. I will be trying everything in my power to emulate it in any family home video I do in the future. I have seen nice videos before and maybe its just because I have a relationship with the show that it has "meaning" to me, but that's fine because I would only use it on a video that has meaning to me... To put it into perspective.... Watching the tribute actually made me wish I had taken Video Editing in school and I have NEVER EVER wished I took anything different then computers in school.
I'm posting their 2 year anniversary video here that shows the Top 5 intros as well as the Tribute I spoke of. (Its the Tribute to the House not the Tribute to Steve) I really hope you guys watch it, cause I think its worth the watch... And let me know if I'm wrong
(You can open the video in a new window here or make it full screen by clicking the button on the video bellow)
This weeks intro is a bit obscure to us Canadians but its the 80's intro that HBO showed right before it aired a movie. (Think FIRST CHOICE)
Also the scene after the intro is going to be confusing for those who don't usually watch cause its setting up the New season and closing the doors on the past 2 seasons.
UPDATE: I had to continue this post after I found the Link to FIRST CHOICE It brought back some memories seeing it... remember sitting around on a week end and opening your TV GUIDE and joyfully finding out that FIRST CHOICE was having one of their FREE PREVIEW WEEK ENDS!!!! I know my parents were too cheap to pay for anything more then basic cable so finding out I got FIRST CHOICE free was like finding the Golden Ticket! Later on it came to mean you were sure to finally watch a movie that showed BOOBIES!!! And as a bonus for us Montrealers.... It would be in SHOW ENGLISH BOOBIES!!!
Sheree, can you do me a favor play word association with your brothers and say FIRST CHOICE. I want to see if they remember the channel too. I know they won't tell you about the boobies thing (since I'm the only man alive willing to talk sex with my brother and sister) but I'd love to know if its just me that remembers these types of things, cause Mark and I can go on and on thinking back to the craziest shit.. wish you guys were around for our 1 hour walk down memory lane for CONSUMERS DISTRIBUTING
UPDATE 2: If you're too "busy" to watch the episode I posted up top then at least watch this to get an idea of the show, its a short montage.
Ed, You did say "Totally" totally one too many times, but I just figure you're totally excited to be posting so the only way to convey that emotion is by emphasizing your sentences with Totally over the top usages of the word "Totally" (GOD! that was probably the hardest sentence I ever wrote... Totally)
So I had a hell of a day today... Mark worked a short shift this morning so he passed by afterword's. We went to go see Andy at work for a bit, then we came home and I managed to get him to try the game ARMY OF TWO. This was around 4pm... its now 1am and we just finished playing. Never in my wildest dreams would I imagine playing a video game for 9hrs with Mark!!! We did take breaks but still, Mark has never been known to like playing games, but he was loving this one. His favorite aspect (I shit you not) was running around and collecting the Bullets that the bad guys dropped when we killed them. He would run from behind cover in the middle of a huge firefight just to grab 1 bag of bullets... it was pretty funny.
It took awhile for him to warm up to the controls, and that's understandable cause the last time Mark played a video game the controller had 2 buttons and a direction pad, now for really the first time he was forced to use the direction pad, 2 thumb sticks and 8 buttons! So there was a lot running around shooting at walls.... while looking for bullets.
But once he got going he was a bad ass with the artillery.. he was sniping and tossing grenades like a pro... well semi pro but pro non the less.
It was fun, he had to talk himself into stopping and heading home to bed but I think I might have a new gaming partner for when Jason and Ed aren't around... one can dream can't they....
So now I'm going to plop down and try to get my eyes to stop seeing crosshairs and bullets whizzing by and tomorrow I'll be checking the paper to see if anyone got fragged at the airport for pissing off a ticket agent.... that then stole their bag in search of bullets
So I'm sitting around last night and Liz was like "I read your post on the blog, ya really did say "totally" quite a lot eh?". So I load up the page and start reading through my post while literally laughing my ass off, OMG, what's happening to me, I really have become quite the sloppy writer haven't I. I guess it's an internet thing and I don't think my writing is this bad when I write an email for work but on here I'm too lazy to put in the extra effort. I'm totally (threw that one in on purpose
) going to have to keep an eye on this for the next little while.
Anyways, ya that's all I really have for now, just starting out on my mission to catch Nelson's post count.
Laterz and have a good Tuesday all!
Ed.
See, here I am again, I wanna give you something awesome to read, I really do but all I can think of is "WTF, why do I have nothing to say", how did Seinfeld do it for like 10+ Seasons? ![]()
What! totally just won another coffee on the roll up the rim thing! I'm totally making up for all the past rim contests that resulted in nothing but please play again after please play again. No seriously people, its weird, I think I'm up to 6 or 7 coffee's and 2 doughnuts, I'm kinda freakin out!
I also enjoyed those pictures Sheree, totally wanted to mention that before but I forgot when it was post writing time. Nels, I totally miss having weekdays like that, you really do live the life dont you! I'm totally jealous, seriously.
Okay, that's about it, I gotta go, gotta deliver some skim milk to my mom, long story...lol.
PS - Thanks for the plug Nels.
Laters all,
Ed.
Well thank you Sheree for those lovely pics, I went through them all and Enjoooyed them profusely... as for you being friends with 2 men with creativity and muscular bodies.... I'll leave that to Jason to handle.
And Thank you Ed, for bringing your special brand of insight. I look forward to always reading your material, be it either on here, Edword.net or twitter. You are truly our version of Dilbert! (I mean that in the sense that you work for the MAN, and always have a funny outlook on things, not in the sense that you have glasses, a big head and retarded looking face)
And speaking of retarded looking Faces... I speak to Jason regularly, you'd think he'd have something to say considering he's always going out and doing stuff, but I guess he doesn't want to share his adventures with us.... And Dino I finally spoke to last night, he's going to Lake George for the week. He's take Tara and Johnny, for spring break, and their going with his NEW and Improved Friends.... ya I finally uncovered the mystery of what happened... seems they have a couple they hang out with... guess it was only a matter of time really... I mean I can understand... why would Dino, a successful, handsome young man, want to be acquainted with such riffraff as ourselves.... Good for him on finding people to hang with.... He will be missed.....
Well I have a big day planned.... have to go return a volume knob to Radio Shack and um... ya thats it really.... so thanks for the 2 post guys, I look forward to re-reading them for the weeks to come.
Was up everybody!!! I have a problem, I wish I could get motivated to write more often cause I have a feeling this place could be so much more. I guess it's just hard to be "on" that often and when I'm not "on" my posts should all boring with crappy titles like "Happy Monday All". How do you do it Nels?
Anyways, I'm currently sitting in my cube getting caught up on my blogs, preparing myself for another week as a public servant and thought I'd say hi to my people. Have a good week everybody!
Laterz,
Ed.
I recently came across some cool photos on Digg.com and saw a picture that my friend Damian took a while ago. It's the second photo in the "sunset" section. Just scroll down a bit and you'll see it.
cool photos
I remember guys like this coming to the gas station, but instead it was French accents... well ok this isn't really a real accent but funny none the less.
I have to say as gay as it sounds I'm kinda giddy and phaklempt right now.
I just finished watching Late Night With Jimmy Fallon and tonights show was a special occasion. His guests tonight were 2 people I consider superstars. I have worked with some big names actors and I don't think any of them have had this impact on me. Kevin Rose and Alex Albrecht are the 2 hosts of the podcast DIGGNATION which I watch religiously. Not only are they big names to me, Eddie, and Jason, but even Sheree and Mark know of them.
The short story is that a few years ago Kevin and Alex hosted a TV show on TechTV called The Screen Savers. It was originally hosted by Leo Laporte (the man I consider a GOD) and Patrick Norton, but thats a different story all together. Well TECHTV got bought and later became G4. Kevin went on to create one of the Internets most influential sites DIGG and then made his return in front of the camera with Alex on DIGGNATION.
DIGGNATION covers some of the HOTTEST user submitted stories on the social news site DIGG.COM, that's D I double G dot com. ![]()
These guys have really pushed internet TV to where it is today and I am happy I've been along for the ride. Seeing them on Jimmy Fallon kinda made me feel proud that I'm a part of this underground thing that is now going more mainstream, but is still something that feels like its just for me.
So congrats to my boys Kevin and Alex, next up, the Tonight Show! (with Jay, not Conan cause its just not the same)

I'm no hip hop fan, but I sure am an 8Bit one! Listen to some of todays tunes with an NES twist
Thank you Sheree I can always count on you for some kind of affection
And I bet I'd think it's even cooler if I actually understood how it all works, cuz at this point I really don't have any clue.
Bonne journée tout le monde!
Sheree
Remember that post I made the other day tell you guys to print out a picture and then turn on your web cam... it was a simple request but of course no one listened (well Jason did after busting his balls)
Well I just found something using that same tech that is actually pretty dam awesome!!!
Surprising to most of you... I did collect Baseball cards as a kid, well I think I might start again after seeing this little demo... Check it out here, it really is pretty cool.
Nice Ed,
Of all people I didn't think you would be the one to get that one wrong! Dino maybe.. (the whole eyetalian thing... its sad really) But I digress.. So did you end up trying it? I've already found other sites starting to use this technology so its something to try, I mean I'm over hyping it but it really is pretty cool when you do it and think about the possibilities. Especially kids and old people will find it cool.
So besides that, I just finished a lovely evening of some online gaming with Ed and Jason. Been awhile (if ever) that I got to do that with more than 1 person... well really I usually play with Jason cause every time me and Ed try it just doesn't seem to work in our favor and we spend all of or time on the phone trying to connect online... So tonight we got it working and it was plenty fun. Lots of laughing and screaming (I tend to talk in a high pitch voice and scream alot when gaming) I really hope we can do that more often, maybe try a different game or perfect 1 game and start a SF Clan!!! Boyyyyaaaa! Ed I know you didn't like it the first time you tried but you should see if you can find Warhawk cheap online in the PS3 store or maybe craigslist. Its a good multiplayer game too. Or get your Metal Gear back cause that pretty fun. I'm gonna hunt down a COD4 somewhere... Isn't that the Game Dino loved when I was down there??? Besides NHL!! "ONE MORE... ONE MORE" remember that Ed, he didn't want to give up till he beat you.
Dean suck it up and find a PS3 already! Buy one off craigslist! You're not buying it for the games your buying it for the Bluray Movies you can play and the Games are a bonus, I don't use MSN much but me and you could stay up allll night playing around in the virtual world
Ok I'm done trying to get you guys to blow money.... I just want us to be together is all... Jason plays NHL every day with his friends.... I just want someone to play with me.... ![]()

![]()
Na I just like spending your money!!! ![]()
See ya Bitches!
So ya, here I am at work, my Friday winding down so I figure I may as well do a little surfin and my first stop as always is this here blog of ours. I read your last post and figure "great, good thing I read this here cause I ain't got no printer at home". So I hit print and boom! I remembered that I brought Matte with me today so I pop him open and load up the built in iSight camera (i know, this is totally starting to sound like an apple commercial, sorry
). So I sit there staring at this thing for a good 4 minutes expecting something to happen. Grrrr, its just not working Nels. I look back at the post and there it is, load this site and put the pic in the webcam. ooops...lol. So now I have no internet on the laptop and no webcam on the work PC so I have to wait till I get home for the magic to happen, I'm so excited!!!
Laterz all,
Ed.
Ok now this is just way too cool NOT to post... and by the reactions I've been getting from all my posts I can tell you guys love them and want more (thanks Ed and Sheree the only ones that post some kind of response)
You're going to need a printer and a web cam for this....
Print out this page
And then go to this site and hold the printed pic up and see what happens.... you can also use the pic here
(obviously pick ALLOW when it asks to access your webcam)
Trust me you guys should try it... its the FUTURE!!!
Yup, I'm actually kind of numb to this stuff at this point. Why is it that these shows I like get killed off way before there prime? Lets make a little list shall we...
That's just to name a few, I'm sure there have been others. I guess it's all for the best, I watch too much TV as it is...lol. RIP Micheal Knight.
Laterz all,
Ed.
I was just watching Knight Rider (as dumb as I think it is I do still tune in every week)
But I noticed that it said it was the SERIES FINALE!!! Now I know they were in talks of canceling it and then decided to do a reboot of the show (that's where FLAG came back into the equation) but it seems like a pretty short amount of time to test out this new format... I did some browsing and it does indeed look like Knight Rider has been canceled... And there will be no ending to the story... That really sucks, I did enjoy not having to think for 1 hr a week. Guess I'll have to find a new show to watch that allows me to stop thinking... Hmm Hows that Celebrity Apprentice show? I here its pretty dumb
Anyways I'm kinda bummed that I'll probably have to wait another 20years before someone else decides to remake KR, but I know Jason and Eddie were more into the show then me so my sympathies go out to them...
Well its 2am and I just finished watching most of the Monday night shows. Monday has become the new Thursday when it comes to Must See TV. You got Heroes, Chuck, House, Worst Week (one of the funniest under rated shows on these days), and of course 24.
To be honest and as I have mentioned before, I have not been too excited with 24 this season. Its gotten so bad that for the first time ever I actually don't watch it right away. Sometimes I wait a day or 2 to watch it. It just hasn't had that excitement I crave from JB. The whole season has been a stage for the whole "IS TORTURE BAD" or "WHEN SHOULD TORTURE BE USED" debate, then they fire some weapons and get back to the debates... Its really been Blah....
And with that I have to say.... 24 is BACK!!! Tonight's episode (even though its kinda reusing old scripts) finally had me sitting there with goose bumps! Sean Callery's music kicked in and set the mood and BOOM! The real storyline for this season begins. Sure it literally took half the season to get here, and really the last 12 episodes did nothing except character development but I'll resist the urge to hate and just accept it. If tonight's story line lasts for the next 12 episodes then I'd be happy (after all wasn't Die Hard a Great Movie
lil spoiler)
So I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the next 11 episodes follow the 24 formula and keep me biting my nails and wanting more...
Gonna go watch Heroes (not even worth posting for that garbage show) and then Jimmy Fallon's first night taking over for Conan...
Peace
UPDATE: Just finished watching Jimmy Fallon and it was pretty funny but sooooo hard to watch cause you could tell how uncomfortable everyone was.... especially him interviewing Robert De Niro
